vapor days

These indeed are vapor days. The one dissipates into the next. We remind each other morning by morning of the fleeting nature of this life and it helps to alleviate the weight of particular moments.

The pace has been fast.

The responsibilities have been many.

Sometimes, many times, the temptation is to assume that our actions solely affect the course of our own lives and others’ lives apart from the Sovereignty of God. Then the day is heavy, and our shoulders are bowed. Our brows are furrowed and a line punctuates worry.

Then we remember, these are vapors days. These are vapor lives.

I am but a mist.

He is Sovereign. It has been written. The work is accomplished. And we walk forward.

To the King.

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’ — yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”  James 4: 13-14 ESV
